Will the WT defend by default?

hi, folks, my wife is taking legal action in alberta against her pedophile stepfather who denied everything (when reappointed a ms), and since made an elder despite "unprovable accusations".. will, the society automatically step in to make a defense just because he's an elder?

we already had this go through all the "proper channels" right to the legal dept.

of canada in 97/98, so this story isn't new to them.

i was wondering... can the elders df you in absentia if you haven't admitted to doing anything wrong??.

my ex wanted his scriptural grounds for a divorce and i told him he had them.

he went to the elders with this info and they called me up last night to try and get me to confess ( which i didn't- i told them it was none of thier business) they told me that they were having a judicial for me wed at 7, and i said i wouldn't be there.

My sister in law was DF'ed in her absence in AB, Canada in like '92. Although it was a confirmed fact that she was living with a guy in her apt. I was working with an elder at the time and the crew used to meet before going to work at the pulp mill where she was a waitress and she told him that she didn't want to talk to them. I don't think she denied the fact that she was living with Chad though....announcement later that week....

New Procedures for handling Abusers

i have been asked to handle a 35 minute item at the .

kingdom ministry school for elders to be held at the end of the year.

interestingly it is called "new procedures for protecting the congregation from child abuse" it will be a manuscript talk based on the new elders textbook.. as soon as i receive the manuscript i will upload it on to jwd.

My wife is taking legal action here in Western Canada against her elder stepfather who molested her for years and then prayed. Years later and she's still not right. Any information like this is appreciated as well as be any advice on this type of thing in court (Alberta to be specific).

Speaking as a Western Canadian born in farm town hospital of 400 where it was routine to be circumsized I am thankful! Why should I have to make that decision later in life when it's more painful and takes time out of my social life? I'm glad Mom had it done to us boys (my youngest brother wasn't cut far enough back and I remember him crying in the bathroom because mom was helping him with the soreness we older ones never had).

not too mention....Why would I want a more sensitive penis?????? I'm 29 and the damn thing already has controlled my life more then the WT ever could!! haha...take it easy

are those who have left god's organization and jehovah god himself actually now more open-minded and unbiased?

Well, I thought I was a reasonably intelligent man until I read this thread, 1/2 of it anyway, I'm tired. I realize I do like the laymen's approach to the deepest subjects. Also, I'm now more fully convinced than ever that philosophy really does bore the shit out of me. Sorry Duns, I'm staying out (17yrs in), the org just shrank another person,(I've finally joined my more sensible friends, which is easy when truly intelligent people can show how silly the organization really is). Thanks for that and looking forward to getting to know some of you better...

I heard there was one on 5th Estate (Canadian 60 minutes) a guy I knew quit studying when he saw it and I was always curious to know what it was about. Anyone know?

The CO's visit

this past week was the visit of our circuit overseer.

i know what you are thinking so before i post some of his comments that i personally found interesting, i only went to keep peace in the family and not give rise to suspicion about my true feelings.

so with that said, here are some things that grabbed my attention.. 1) his talk thursday nite was about being successful and how the world's view of success is far different than the organizations.

I've had my doubts about "the truth" for some time now. My wife was sexually abused by someone they deemed worthy enough to remain a MS with the intelligent rebuttal "I don't remember but one things for sure I didn't have intercourse with her", now he's an elder who ruthlessly led the judicial comittee to DF a friend of mine with a true drinking problem that quit and "turned herself in" and just wanted help. Anyway, I decided to let my curiosity get the best and looked on the evil net, haha! I ordered Ray Franz's "In search of Christian Freedom" and was so convinced it wasn't the truth that my regular hours went completely flatline, and by the time that the District Convention came along (I went to take my 14yr old sisters) (mother in surgery), I listened to their drama intended to scare me while partaking of Vodka and carbonated water! I'd never have guessed a year ago!! Made me loosen up to talk to "old friends" at noontime though. Anyway, hopefully someone will find this funny, welcome me, I'm one of YOU!!!!!
